Taizhou city in Jiangsu province has recently established its first vehicle-to-grid (V2G) super charging station.

This move is part of the nation’s drive to enhance charging infrastructure, responding to the significant demand generated by the rapidly expanding new energy vehicle industry.

V2G charging stations are not only capable of charging electric vehicles but can also draw power from them and send it back to the grid.

V2G technology harnesses the batteries of electric vehicles as mobile energy storage units, enabling the transfer of energy between vehicles and the power grid through bidirectional charging stations. This innovation allows electric vehicles to not only charge but also discharge power back into the grid during the latter’s peak demand periods.

Designed by the State Grid Taizhou Electric Power Supply Co, this charging station commenced operations on August 28. It integrates solar power generation, energy storage, advanced charging technologies, and intelligent energy control.

The station features newly installed distributed photovoltaic capacity of 45.25 kilowatts along with a 100 kW energy storage unit.
