Created in China: Chinese enterprises to propel cultural economy amid Paris 2024

An exhibition themed on Olympic cultural dissemination is open to the public at the Beijing Olympic Museum starting this week, marking the first appearance and sales of licensed merchandise for the Paris 2024 Olympics in Beijing.

The Paris 2024 mascot “Olympic Phryge” is prominently displayed during the exhibition. Plush toys, figurines, mugs and keychains featuring the traditional small Phrygian hats, as well as sport badge sets and emblem puzzle badge sets are among the most popular items with visitors.

The exhibition, organized by the Beijing Olympic City Development Foundation, the Beijing Olympic Museum and the licensed producer of Paris Olympics merchandise Beijing Honav Group, will run until October 28th.

As a licensed producer for a slew of domestic and international Olympic Games, Honav Group has recently received strategic investment from China Tourism Group Investment and Asset Management Co Ltd (CTG Asset), a subsidiary of State-owned China Tourism Group, which signifies a solid step toward the deep integration of the tourism and cultural and creative industries, said the company.

“Investing in Honav Group is an important move by CTG Asset to strengthen, supplement and extend the industry chain, and to vigorously develop the tourism and cultural creative industries,” said Liu Kun, deputy general manager of CTG. “This is significant for the integrated development of the group’s cultural and tourism sectors, as the group aims to become a world-class tourism cultural creative player through resource integration, creative innovation and quality service.”

This month, the central government issued important directives on tourism work, emphasizing the need for integrity and innovation, quality improvement, efficiency enhancement and integrated development. The focus is on perfecting the modern tourism industry system, accelerating the construction of a strong tourism country, and promoting the high-quality and sustainable development of the tourism industry.

“Leveraging the resources and advantages of both sides, the cooperation will promote the integrated development of the cultural and tourism industries. Based in Shunyi district of Beijing, we aim to create an industry park focusing on services for sports, culture and tourism,” said Chen Shaoshu, founder of Beijing Honav Group.

“We will continue to maintain our specialized, refined, unique and innovative development positioning, actively respond to the nation’s push for new quality productive forces, tell China’s fascinating stories and promote the Chinese cultural creative industry to the world,” Chen said.

The cooperation is expected to further push forward the Olympic licensing industry and fields such as sports and tourism cultural creativity, customer customization, digital creativity, and cultural creative industry parks. It will also strive to create new platforms for cultural and tourism integration through resource integration, technological empowerment, creative development, innovative design, supply chain management and omni-channel marketing, continuing the journey from “Made in China” to “Created in China”, said the company executives.
