The Taizhou Sanmen grid-side energy storage power station demonstration project, with a total investment of around 1.2 billion yuan ($169.7 million), is about to complete construction and will commence operation by the end of November, said its constructor on Friday.
State Grid Taizhou Electric Power Company, one of the project's constructors, said the project is now entering the grid-connection testing phase. As of now, all 25 energy storage modules and integrated alternating current units have been installed, and the main transformer was hoisted into place.
The Zhejiang province-located company said the project, upon operation, will enhance the grid's ability to integrate more renewable energy resources, strengthening the grid's peak-shaving capability with the project's stored power, and thus improving the flexibility and reliability of the power system.
